Next Trip To Visit Mount Yasur
I have been contemplating about the destination of the next trip for a while. Finally, the decision was made to visit an active volcano. It will be an exceptional experience personally and professionally. The plan is to take the minimum gear to capture the beauty of this natural phenomenon. Mount Yasur has been active for more than 800 years.
I will share some tips of how to book the best flights and hotels.
Since flying all the way to Vanuatu is a long journey, I have decided to make the most out of this trip. I added two more stops, Nadi, Fiji and Nuku'alofa in Tonga. Nadi was. default place to stop by and visit because of the direct flight from Los Angeles airport (LAX) to Nadi (NAN).
There are direct flights from Nadi to Port Vila, Vanuatu. But you need to check the date, otherwise you will end up with 17 - hour flights. Spending a night in Port Vila then fly to Tanna island to hike Mount Yasur. Also, this trip includes 3 days in Tonga. There are direct flights from Nadi to Nuku'alofa.
To find the best flight I follow the following steps:
Search google flight to explore the best dates to travel.
My favorite travel site is expedia. The reason is their reward program. I redeemed my points from 2021 to book 5 nights in California. I start with Expedia to check set my map and check for the best flights from my hometown and nearby airports. Also, it is easy to check the connections and layover on expedia.
Kayak is my favorite website to check for flights. You can search up to 8 multi-destination flights in one search (compared to 5 in expedia). Kayak shows all flight from other websites as well and link you to those websites to get the cheapest tickets.
Sometimes, I go back and book the flight on expedia even when it is at higher price because package deals can save more.
That is a quick review of how I plan for my travels. I managed to book the following itinerary for only $1220: USA > Fiji> Vanuatu (Port Vila) > Vanuatu (Tanna) > Vanuatu (Port Vila) > Fiji > Tonga > Fiji > USA. For more details on how and why I booked flights on both Kayak and Expedia, I will post a separate detailed article.
